Q: How do I start?

Sign-up for a 30-day free trial and experience a fully functional test drive of our Data Protection Service. There is no financial obligation whatsoever!


Q: Do I need to sign a contract?

No contracts to sign. You can even cancel the service at any time with no hassle.


Q: How do prepare for, install, and configure my backups with your data protection service?

A: Please review the video tutorials available in the Tutorials section. These tutorials provide step by step instructions to help you get started quickly. After installing the Oracast DPS Client, the help menu within the client provides additional information on specific tasks.


Q: Is my data safe with your service?

A: Data security is one of our primary concerns. All of your data is encrypted using military-grade encryption before it ever leaves your computer and stays encrypted on our servers. To add another level of security, when you install the Oracast DPS Client you can set your own secret encryption key, similar to a password, that will enhance the privacy of your data. Furthermore, our security policies and physical infrastructure limit even the encrypted data from being easily accessible. Only qualified Oracast personnel have access to our backup servers.


Q: How is my data sent to your site?

A: Using FastBIT technology, only the changes to your data is extracted, compressed and encrypted in preparation to send to our secure site. The Oracast DPS Client will then make a connection to one of our Data Protection Servers and electronically send your encrypted data over the internet.


Q: Can I backup more than one computer?

A: Yes. You have 2 options here. You can either setup the Oracast DPS software on multiple computers or if the data you want to backup is on networked drives, you can install the software on just one computer and it will be able to backup any data that it can see from multiple computers.


Q: Do I just backup nightly?

A: That is up to you. You can set schedules to backup your data whenever you want. Typically you want to backup files when they are not in use, so depending on your schedule you may want to backup once at night or multiple times throughout the day and night.


Q: How much data can I backup?

A: You can backup as much data as you want but you are charged based on the amount of data that we store in our secure facility. We tell people to take advantage of our 30-day free trial to get a better feeling for how much data will be stored.


Q: What if I need help setting up or recovering my data?

A: That's what we're here for. The last thing we want to do is charge you money to help get your data back, which is why we offer free support; something that is unheard of in this industry.


Q: Is it hard to recover my data?

A: Not at all. Simply open the Oracast DPS Client and click the 'Restore' tab, then select the file(s) you want to recover. Have a look for yourself with our online tutorials in the Tutorial section. It doesn't get any easier!


Q: Will I be charged to recover my data?

A: We do not charge for data recovery; you only pay for storage space.


Q: I already backup to CD/DVD, why should I use Oracast Data Protection Service?

A: You can never have too many backups. Don't think of Oracast Data Protection Service as a replacement, but as a complement to the continuity of your business. CD/DVD's are not always reliable as many things can go wrong. For example, many companies who backup to CD/DVD do not have a data recovery plan, nor do they test their backups. What if the data you burned to CD/DVD was corrupt? What if it wasn't burned properly? What if you lost the CD/DVD? What if someone stole the un-encrypted CD/DVD? The list goes on.

Oracast Data Protection Service is safe, secure and extremely reliable. You have 24x7x365 access to your data from any computer.

Q: Do I have to perform the backups myself?

A: No you don't. Once you create a backup schedule the Oracast DPS Client will perform the backups automatically. In addition, you can configure the Oracast DPS Client to send you an email after every backup!


Q: If I backup every night, won't the amount of data I store compound?

A: Some of our competitors use backup methods that will exponentially compound your data over a short period of time; costing you money. Oracast Data Protection Service uses the latest backup technology that will detect any changes to your data, and upload only those changes to your backup set; minimizing your backups up to 99%!
